Here's the finished base.

I wrote some simple software for it that uses the WifiManager library to input access point credentials.  It also has a basic web interface that allows for changing the RGB levels of the illumination.  Very simple stuff! 

Also when it boots up it shows the last octet of the subnet its on by indicating it by flashing a series of reds, greens and blues.  So if the IP address of the lamp is 192.168.1.155 then it will flash red once, green 5 times and blue 5 times.

The 3d printed moon that I got from thingiverse.

Picture of it illuminated.  The camera gave it a bit of an off color.  Not to worry it still looks OK.
